Tourney Divisions

Please register for the division that best represents the ability of your team’s strongest players. The integrity of the Pond Hockey Classic depends on teams selecting the appropriate level of competition.

Based on previous tournament results, roster reviews, and available player history, the Pond Hockey Classic reserves the right to move a team to a more appropriate division prior to tournament play.

A minimum of five teams is required for a division to be hosted. If a division does not meet the five-team minimum, teams will be consolidated into another division being offered that best matches their age and skill level.

Our goal is to create the most competitive, balanced, and enjoyable experience possible for every team.

Open Divisions

The Open Divisions are the most competitive divisions at the Pond Hockey Classic, featuring experienced players and teams competing at a high level. Divisions include Open, Women's Open, 30+, 40+, 50+, and 60+, creating competitive matchups based on both age and skill.

Teams may roster up to 8 players, play 4 vs. 4, and are guaranteed 4 games, with qualifying teams advancing to the playoffs.

Recommended Skill Level: A/B Adult League, Former Junior, Collegiate, and Elite Adult Players.

Shinny Divisions

The Shinny Divisions are designed for skilled recreational players looking for competitive hockey without the intensity of the Open Divisions. Ideal for C-level players, these divisions feature fast-paced games, great competition, and plenty of highlight-reel moments.

Divisions include Shinny 21+, Shinny 35+, and Shinny 50+.

Teams may roster up to 8 players, play 4 vs. 4, and are guaranteed 4 games, with qualifying teams advancing to the playoffs.

Recommended Skill Level: C-Level Adult League, Former High School, Recreational Players, and Intermediate Adult Hockey.

The Twig Divisions are designed for recreational D/E-level players and teams looking for a fun, competitive weekend on the ice. Whether you're a lifelong pond hockey player or simply enjoy the game with friends, these divisions focus on sportsmanship, camaraderie, and the true spirit of outdoor hockey.

Divisions include Twig 21+ and Twig 40+.

Teams may roster up to 8 players, play 4 vs. 4, and are guaranteed 4 games, with qualifying teams advancing to the playoffs.

Recommended Skill Level: D/E-Level Adult League, Recreational Players, Beginner to Intermediate Hockey Players.

Duster Divisions

The Duster Divisions are all about enjoying the game, making memories, and embracing the true spirit of pond hockey. Designed for beginner and recreational players, these non-competitive divisions provide a welcoming environment where fun, sportsmanship, and camaraderie take center stage.

Divisions include Duster and Women's Duster.

Teams may roster up to 8 players, play 4 vs. 4, and are guaranteed 4 games. Official scores are not recorded, and there are no playoffs, ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone on the ice.

Recommended Skill Level: Beginner, New-to-Hockey, Recreational, and Social Players.
